Union County is located in the heart of the Piedmont. We are 30 miles south of Spartanburg and 65 miles north of Columbia. The main street of Union has been restored to the historical era tradition and is very lovely. Rose Hill State Park is located approximately 10 miles from the heart of Union. This was the former Governor Gist Mansion and is on the Historical Register. The Inn at Merridun, a bed and breakfast inn, is within a block of the courthouse. Several motels are located on the Duncan By-Pass, which is only two blocks from Main Street. In October of each year, the Uniquely Union festival is held. A barbeque cook off is held and vendors from around the county compete for the best barbeque prepared. |
