The Supreme Court of South Carolina |
MEMORANDUM
TO: All Circuit and Family Court Judges
FROM: Jean H. Toal, Chief Justice
RE: State Holidays
DATE: February 10, 2003
I have received many inquiries recently concerning the Judicial Department’s observation of State Holidays. The General Assembly has identified twelve dates on which legal holidays for South Carolina State employees will be observed annually. The Judicial Department will observe these designated days listed below. All State employees will observe these state holidays notwithstanding a county’s non-observation of the designated holiday. I will be happy to approve exceptions to observing the state holidays in the event of an emergency hearing or carryover trial.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
George Washington’s Birthday/President’s Day
