Retirement/Investiture Ceremony Held in Charleston June 20, 2003 |
| In a joint ceremony, Circuit
Court Judge
Victor A. Rawl retired and a newly elected Circuit Court Judge took
office. The ceremony was held at the Charleston County Courthouse on
June 20, 2003. Judge Rawl's retirement was highlighted by the
presentation of his portrait which will hang on the fourth floor of the
Judicial Center on Broad Street. The portrait was painted by Leslie
Pratt-Thomas, an artist from Mt. Pleasant, and paid for by local lawyers.
After his portrait was unveiled, Judge Rawl welcomed his replacement Judge Roger M. Young to the circuit court bench. The oath of office was administered by S.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean H. Toal. Judge Young's children, Miss Grace L. Young and Mr. Roger M. Young, Jr. presented their father with his judicial robe. |
