The South Carolina Judicial Department, S.C. Supreme Court website has been selected as one of the most notable South Carolina State Government documents of 2001.  The South Carolina State Library announced the award today. The selection is announced annually on or near Freedom of Information Day, March 16th, the birthday of President James Madison, an early proponent for citizen access to government information.

The State Library held a ceremony to recognize the state agencies, which were responsible for the award-winning publications. Jim Johnson, Director of the State Library, presented the award to Joan Assey, IT Director, and the SCJD Web Team (Winkie Clark, Deb Rosengrant, and Carolyn Yon). 

The selection was made from items released in the year 2001 and received by the State Documents Depository System. The Notable Documents Selection Committee, composed of Doris Johnson, South Carolina State University, Pat Brown, Spartanburg County Public Library and Mary Morgan, South Carolina State Library, selected the publications based on content, usefulness, and overall quality.

The SCJD Website was completely reconstructed in 2001.  The following enhancements have been completed to date:
